Angling on the Doorstep
There is a wealth of angling around County Durham, Teesdale and Northumberland. Some lakes and rivers are around your cottage at Edge Knoll Farm. The lakes at Witton le Wear make for a relaxing and exciting time for all freshwater angling tastes. Fishpal, advertise salmon fishing and trout fishing on the River Wear with the Bedburn stretch of the Wear being only three hundred meters from Edge Knoll Holiday Cottages. We are about 500 meters East of the mouth of the Bedburn.
Trout Fishing is also available at The Jubilee Lakes, designed for the needs of Still water Fly fishermen, which are about six miles from your cottage. The lakes are spring-fed so the water is a steady 10 to 11 degrees all year round. Wheelchair access for fly fishing is available, though not everywhere, unfortunately.
The Bishop Auckland and District Angling Club
The BADAC have seventeen miles of Salmon and Sea Trout fishing with Brown Trout on the River Wear, as well as four miles on the River Tees which has superb Grayling and Brown Trout. Angling day tickets are available so why not join the club and use Edge Knoll Cottages as your base!
Angling on Northumbrian water Reservoir
Although not quite on the doorstep and besides, if you’re making a week of it, reservoir fishing could be a pleasurable change of scenery for a day or two. Durham and Teesdale reservoirs are both within an hour’s drive of the cottages at Edge Knoll Farm.
