This puts the Glam in Glamping

Now on site, this fantastic breakaway gem. We are in the final stages (February 2024) of landscaping and beautifying our new addition at Edge Knoll Holiday Cottages.

Why not get in first to enjoy this modern version of what the old time shepherds used, to live in the field next to their flock at lambing time.

With views over open countryside up the Wear Valley towards the Pennines, in the Durham Dales.

An ideal spot for that romantic break you’ve been promising yourself.

Sleeping two, this is a Tardis version of a Shepherd’s Hut. Fully equipped for that short break with gas hob, oven, Butler’s sink, ensuite shower and hot and cold running water, flushing toilet and attached to proper sewerage.

No roughing it here!!.

All the kitchen utensils you will need for that cosy stay in the countryside.

Electrically heated and with a log burning stove for those cold Winter nights this hut is super insulated to modern standards.

A perfect spot for

Angling, The River Wear is only about a five minute walk from the hut. The Bishop Auckland Angling Club have stretches on the River Wear and other spots around the area.

Walking, The Wear Valley Way runs through Edge Knoll Farm and is about halfway between Killhope Lead Mine at the start of the walk and Seaburn Beach in Sunderland at the end.

Why not plan to do the walk and have a few days refreshing yourself in the middle of your trek in this oasis. Good pub restaurants start within a 20 minute walk for the thirsty traveller.

And there are many more walks in the area, starting from the door of your hideaway.

Cycling,  An ideal spot for touring the area with quiet roads all around County Durham. At the West end of Hamsterley village there is the fantastic Downhill Mountain Biking area of Hamsterley Forest. With runs from the suicidal to the gentler runs for those without the desire to end up in bandages.
